Are you struggling to get the skin you dream of? You might be following the right skincare routine but you may be eating the wrong kind of foods! Believe it or not, what you eat may affect your skin and cause certain conditions.

Check this list and avoid these foods if you want to have an ever glowing skin.

Sugary foods

Sugar may be great for exfoliation when applied to your skin, but when consumed without measure it can increase the glycemic levels in your blood, leading to inflammation and poor synthesis of collagen (what makes your skin firm and keeps it from feeling flaky).

When you consume sugary foods, your body releases insulin, which regulates the levels of sugar in your blood and may lead to excessive production of sebum; this means more risk of pimples and breakouts. All of this can result in premature aging, the appearance of early wrinkles and sensitivity.

Fried Foods

Your casual portion of french fries is good to go, as long as you don’t make it a daily habit. Deep-fried foods are rich in Omega-6 fatty acids, which are essential for brain function and development, however, their excess can end up causing more problems than helping your body.

Foods with high cholesterol levels can cause circulation problems and lead to puffiness, acne breakouts, and inflammation. So try to steer away from them whenever you can and replace them for gentler foods such as vegetables, seeds, and fruit.

You may be watching over your diet, but do you also check what you drink on that Friday night out? Alcohol isn’t your best friend when it comes to taking care of your skin: for starters, it contains sugar which can affect your collagen production, and second, it encourages the loss of moisture, aka: dehydrates you.

You can feel it and see it after a night of a few beers or glasses of wine: your skin looks dull, there may be dark circles around your eyes and its complexion isn’t the same. You can make sure to hydrate when going out, and lowering your alcohol consumption. Your body and your skin will feel much better

Watch out for these foods, consume them responsibly and make sure to have a gentle, natural skincare routine with beU! You’ll look and feel your best, letting your true beauty shine through.
