Pink Shirt Day was celebrated in Canada this year on Feb. 22. The designated day encourages people to wear pink shirts to symbolize a stand against bullying. Bullying not only happens in school, it can happen at the workplace or anywhere.
The ORGANO™ HQ staff wanted to raise awareness about bullying, so they researched the cause to see if there was a way they could participate. Since it involves youth, and ORGANO™ staff has always been willing to get involved if it is about children, their social committee was asked to come up with a fundraising activity in support of this good cause. What better way to spread the love than to “Shake Up Your Heart” on Valentine’s Day by offering staff our OGX FENIX™ shake, with added fruit flavors, for a donation. All proceeds were donated to pinkshirtday.ca OG also purchased some items from the Pink Shirt website on behalf of staff members (example: shirts, bracelets, stuffed toys) with these proceeds going to the cause, as well. This was followed up on Feb. 22 with the entire staff and management wearing pink shirts in support of the anti-bullying campaign.
ORGANO™ recognizes that objectives like raising awareness about good causes and then doing something about them needs to start from somewhere. The Company received great feedback from its staff relating how good they felt about their last charity initiative, a Christmas shoe box, and expressing a desire to do more activities with similar missions. Giving back to the community is something which carries a lot of OG pride, as it demonstrates the Company’s mission of changing lives.
