Most of us like to look back at the end of the year and see what we have achieved and learned throughout the year. Today we will give you a few tips on making that review successful and making the most of your learnings.
1. Keep a Record
The best way to make a review successful is to record your learnings. This allows you to see how far you have come and what lessons you each learned. You will also be able to compare your progress with the previous year and see if any new knowledge may have been helpful in the future. You can keep it in a journal or a simple sheet of paper you can revisit anytime you need some encouragement.
2. Measure Your Results
Use some time to evaluate your results in each area of your life and give them a grade. Don’t be so hard on yourself if you haven’t achieved BIG goals, but instead, make a list of all your accomplishments and evaluate how hard or easy they were to get. This will give you an idea of how ambitious you can be when setting your goals, and how accountable you are when it comes to making them come to life.
3. Make a Plan for the Next Year
If you are going through this process, it is important that you create a plan for the next year, based on your learnings, so that you can do everything correctly and plan out the next steps in your journey.
A plan will help you see where things need improvement, or what needs to be done differently next year. It will also help you set realistic goals for yourself so that when things don’t go exactly as planned, it doesn’t feel like a failure because it’s not really your fault!
4. Share your accomplishments of the year and your goals for the next
Recognition and support are vital in this kind of process, and that’s why sharing your victories and your plans with others can help you feel more committed to your new goals! You don’t need to make them public, but sharing them with your partner, a family member or your best friend can help you hold yourself accountable for your future goals.
It’s easy to get into the habit of “playing small,” thinking that you can’t do anything big. If you want to be successful in life, you need to look outside the box and make things happen. When you start to set your goals for the next year, it can be tempting to make a wish list of everything you want to accomplish. But remember, there is no way you can accomplish everything you want. And even if you did, it wouldn’t be good for you. It’s better to set a few short-term goals that you can work towards and then celebrate your success along the way.
