Helping others and taking care of the planet have always been two of the main ORGANO values and pillars when it comes to Social Responsibility actions. Inspired by our desire to give back to the planet that’s given us our home and resources, three years ago we decided to take on an initiative that not only inspires sustainability but also supports families and communities, that’s how Bags For Life was born.

ORGANO partnered with a non-profit organization that provides work to unemployed women in urban areas, empowering marginalized women to engage in a meaningful livelihood while promoting sustainable production.

By gathering as many empty sachets of OG Classic Beverages as possible and giving them to the non-profit organization, the women craft purses, or Bags for Life, out of empty, recycled sachets and are compensated for every piece they finish.

In the words of Shella Chua, SVP, Administration & Distributor Services of ORGANO and main proponent of the campaign “This initiative lets our Distributors and customers get involved in a meaningful way, recycling their trash to transform it into livelihood opportunities for these women and their families”.

Committed to our social responsibility of giving back to our community, we  auction the hand-crafted Bags for Life during OG’s regional conventions, with most of the proceeds going back to the women who made them.

The inspiring women behind the bags

Pan and Maew are two of the women that work on creating beautiful bags out of recycled sachets.

Pan is 55 and after battling cancer, making a living out of making and selling Thai desserts, she met ORGANO. The OG products helped her regain vitality and happiness during her treatment and also created a bond with the brand. Her life-changing moment came when an idea hit her: use the OG sachets to turn them into beautiful purses people would love.

“I started collecting the empty sachets after drinking coffee, simply to avoid making them trash to protect the environment. And then one day, I realized they were of sentimental value to me. So I came to Ms. Maew, my amazing neighbour who’s skilled in the art of basketry, and we started thinking about how to use the empty coffee sachets. This was the beginning of Bags For Life.”

For her neighbour Maew, it was an idea that came from observation and resourcefulness,I had previously learned basketry at university and I fell in love with it. When I saw the sachets, I imagined that I could make something of value from this “rubbish.” and then we came up with the idea for the bags.”

Today Maew and Pan are working on creating more bags for the people of the world as they help the environment one sachet at a time. Both are healthy, happy and grateful, “We have to thank ORGANO for giving us a great opportunity to see the power of women in the world working together. Mr. Subhajati Angsuvarnsiri was the first person to see the value in this project by linking us to the ORGANO HQ in Canada, and now we’re creating great opportunities for women and their families around Thailand”.

The magic of a sustainable bag

Each bag has a story and an impressive number behind. Each piece requires a minimum of 600 empty sachets. These are collected thanks to the help of our consumers and committed Distribution partners.

You can join this inspiring global initiative by donating the used sachets of your favorite OG products and mail them or drop them off at your nearest distribution center or regional office!

Together we can make a difference!
