ORGANO™ kicked this year’s holiday season into gear last week as OG employees organized their 2nd annual Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Collection. The shoeboxes – think of the shoeboxes like roomier Christmas stockings – are filled with a “wow” fun toy and smaller toys, along with other more basic items such as school supplies and hygiene products. Employees who donated are also asked to include a personal note in each box donated – making the Christmas memory complete!
Mr. Bernie and the entire Chua family kicked off the activity with a very generous donation – and then the OG Headquarter Elves went to work! At the end of the week, ORGANO™ ended up gathering and filling approximately 100 shoeboxes that were delivered to Samaritan’s Purse, the organization behind the community activity.
Samaritan’s Purse is an international charity organization with a mission to “aid hurting people” which includes victims of war, disease, disaster, poverty, famine and persecution. While Samaritan’s Purse services people of all faiths, races, gender and socio-economic standing – it’s roots are based in the Christian Bible story of the Good Samaritan. In that story, a man from the Biblical Israeli area of Samaria helps to save a stranger’s life -the origination of today’s cultural reference of being a ‘Good Samaritan.’
