The sound of a rooster crowing – it’s your cue to get up, pour yourself a cup of OG coffee and start the day. But, the rooster means something a little more starting on the 28th; it’s the Year of the Rooster for the Chinese New Year! There are twelve different animals represented in the Chinese New Year, each representing different years, characteristics, and symbols that circulate with each passing year.

2017 honors the year of the Rooster. The Rooster symbolizes a lot of great traits and each animal has their own lucky signs. For instance, the Rooster’s lucky numbers are 5, 7, and 8, and their lucky colors are brown, yellow, and gold (ORGANO™ Gold?!) People born in the Year of the Rooster also have strong characteristics. They are known to be honest, active, bright, quick-minded, and ambitious. With all of these attributes, is sounds like the Roosters are going to a have a busy and successful year! In honor of their year, why not get inspired to go after those same traits? We all know the best way to stay quick-minded and ambitious is to pour yourself a hot cup of ORGANO™ coffee to get your mind focused and ready to take whatever comes your way.

The Chinese New Year is a special celebration filled with amazing festivities. The New Year falls on a new moon and the celebrations end on the following full moon meaning that the celebrations can last about 15 days. People all over the globe have begun preparations for the exciting activities. One of the traditions is a lantern festival accompanied by folk dances. Money is often handed out in red envelops for happiness. Another traditional element to the Chinese New Year is the firecracker. They are set off to frighten away ghosts so that the New Year could begin free of the negative spirit. The New Year is a great way to begin free of any negativities from the preceding year. Everybody loves a fresh start. The New Year is the closest thing that we really get to a “clean slate.” Chinese New Year celebrates sweeping out the old and bringing in the new.

One way you can incorporate this tradition is to try new things. Why not start with your morning routine? ORGANO™ has delicious coffees like our Gourmet Black Coffee, creamy Café Mocha, and Café Latte. Organo also has convenient brewing cups in African Red, Colombian Roast, Rodeo Chai, and Brazilian Te Amo. Not only do we offer these flavorful blends, but we also have a variety of teas if that matches your preference or you’re ready to embrace something new. Organo offers traditional green and black teas, but also offers a red tea, a light tea perfect for those watching their health.

This year is all about the Rooster, but that doesn’t mean you can’t partake in the fun! Embrace some of the Rooster’s characteristics – be bright and be ambitious. Check out celebrations in your area. Try something new. Have a Happy New Year.
