In poll after poll, the city of St. Louis, Missouri constantly ranks in the Top 10 of America’s most philanthropic cities. In the recently released 2014 poll conducted by Charity Navigator, a nonprofit organization that evaluates charities, St. Louis was ranked No. 1 in the country as the most philanthropic US city.
According to the 1 June 2014 media release issued by the Charity Navigator, “St. Louis’ nonprofit sector is the tops in performance in the nation.”This is up from a No. 9 rating in the same poll from last year.
St. Louis has a long history with philanthropy, and is home to numerous charitable organizations. In the 2013 Charity Navigator report, it was noted that St. Louis charities were definitely high above the national average. The report stated that “The 51 largest charities in St. Louis averaged total revenue of $6 million as of May 1, 2013,” which was up from the national average of around $4.7 million. Similarly, St Louis charities reported combined total assets of $12.1 million, with the national average being reported at $7.4 million.
Naturally, this charitable nature reflects well on the city, and benefits both residents and visitors alike. Perhaps as a byproduct of its philanthropic nature, many of St. Louis’world-class arts and cultural institutions are free to visitors. Similarly, the St. Louis Zoo, which with over 90 acres and about 18,000 animals is one of the best in the country, is completely free to visit!
Of course, this beautiful and charitable city is going to be hosting the Organo Gold International Conference, One Dream, One Team, this October. It makes sense that Organo Gold chose such a philanthropically minded city as the host for this year’s global conference. As Organo Gold has grown, so too has it’s mission to help others, which is why the OG Cares Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the company, has grown with the success of Organo Gold in recent years.
