8 tips on how to stay motivated while working from home!
Working from home is living the dream. For some, anyhow. But for those unaccustomed to it, the working from home scenario can too easily become derailed. “I’ll just put on some laundry”or “I really need to reorganize my office filing system”or “I’ll just catch up on the latest episode of my favorite TV show over lunch”can quickly sabotage your productivity.
Fear not. Many of the Diamond Distributors and OG leaders you admire at Organo Gold built their business from home — juggling all the responsibilities of family and domestic life. So you can, too!
But it’s good get a helping hand while starting out. So here are our top tips on how to get the most our of your work-from-home scenario:
1. Set a Schedule
One of the joys of working from home is breaking free of that 9-to-5 grind, and establishing a routine that suits your needs. But don’t get carried away with your freedom and forget to set a schedule. Whatever hours you choose, be sure to set time for the important activities you need to accomplish daily, and stick to a regular schedule. You’ll feel more accomplished and more justified in taking a much-needed break. Many experts recommend scheduling three important tasks:
- Catch-up time: Read and respond to emails and catch up on your reading —be it the news, or whatever information you need to take in to keep informed for your business.
- Collaborative time: Make calls, check in with your team, work on projects that involve other people.
- Serious work: What are the tasks you must get done in order to make money? Set serious time aside to work on these important income-generating activities.
2. Dress for Work
Just because you’re not commuting to an office and meeting up with coworkers is no excuse to sit around all day in pajamas. While you may not have to dress as formally for yourself as you might for a corporate job, there is a psychological benefit to putting on “work clothes” while working and swapping back into “casual”clothing when your work is done for the day. It’s a great way to give yourself a barrier at home between work and play, so that work doesn’t bleed into your home life 24/7.
3. Have Work-Specific Communications
To help separate work messages from personal ones, experts advise having dedicated communication tools just for work — such as phone and email.
- Switch Up the Scenery
At home, the prospect of a mid-afternoon nap can be all too tempting. If you find yourself prone to such things, it’s wise to head out for a change of scenery to keep up your work productivity. When surrounded by other people at, say the local coffee shop or library, you’re more inclined to stay focused and keep working on the task at hand.
5. Embrace Video Chat
The lack of human interaction can be alienating when working from home. To avoid becoming a faceless name on the screen or a voice without a body, try using video chat technology such as Skype, FaceTime, Google Hangout or other video teleconferencing platforms. They are a great way to stay in touch and still be able to read people’s faces.
6. Have Working Lunches
Stay sociable and make lunch dates with your fellow Distributors or friends. Meeting a 9-to-5 cubicle dweller for lunch can be a great way to showcase the freedom of your work from home lifestyle, and also allows you to keep in touch with friends and fellow Distributors on a personal level.
7. Attend Events
This is key in Organo Gold — be sure to keep abreast of all events in your area — meeting up with fellow Distributors and hearing how they tackle their challenges and achieved goals and milestones is a great way to grow and build your burgeoning OG business.
8. Remember You Are Not Alone
There’s always someone who has likely been where you are. Don’t hesitate to reach out to the many OG resources —be it listening to Coffee Break or Millionaire Mentorship calls, attending events or just calling or meeting up with your sponsor for some advice — when you feel the need.
